My Mom and Dad Birthday Cards

i wanted to show off the cards i made for my parents on their birthday… both are on the same day…

My mom's card

i did the very popular hand made nest with eggs (with pearls)…

My Dad's card

i did my dad's card to portray a lion king (he is my hero), i drew a lion king and cut it out in cardboard, then using canvas as the background i adhered it and added colors and crackle finishing with photo corners...

textures around

textured backgrounds are my favorites… so i used a dabber resist to create the background of the card and emboss resist to create the back for dad wordings… as i love to make embellishments myself.. i made the anchor by doing a bit of dry embossing…

Been a long time

Hi all, it feels like ages since i last entered the pages of my blog… i've been really busy at work and simply had no time to think of anything else. so this weekend i'm gonna fill up the pages and let loose all the stress… i've got some new cards to show off too…

The first one is something i did for a friend, who is in fact a bride in waiting… it was her final birthday as a bachelorette, so this one was done to symbolize that.

The second card i did was by accident... Recently i was going through my stash when i found these flat marbles which i found at a bead shop sometime back (as usual i have completely forgotten about it) so it stuck me suddenly with this creation…

Little bit of texture

Well, here comes a new one for the week… actually ive been preparing for my parents birthday for last 2 weeks.. i'll share with you in the recent future what i made for them… until then enjoy this little work of mine…

so this is a new technique i discovered by accident, you know how much i love gesso, so i gessoed the heart and spilled some alcohol inks on it… do't you just love the color…

So its another challenge day, today its all about red and gold over at the Gingersnap Creations- here is my card with some of my new stamps… check out my bow, can you believe it took me 2 hours to get it right lol, yep! there is a first time for every thing…

My little tin soldiers

i recently purchased paper from Graphic 45 - playtime collection and the moment i received them i fell in love with these tin soldiers tags, so here is my creation with them, focusing on adding them to my father's day collection.

Our blessed holiday - Vesak

Today is a very special full moon - its known as the Vesak Poya for us Sri Lankans. what is it? Vesak is the day we celebrate Lord Buddha's Birthday (much like Christmas)… over 75% of Sri Lankan are Buddhists and we celebrate it Vesak with style, with lanterns and light festivals and pandols.

so today after 6 pm we light out our lanterns, here is how my house looks;

then i just went around the neighborhood to see what they have done… here is what i found...

this is the most common type of lanterns.. they come in all kinds of sizes and colors..

i love this lantern; it's a moving one, it goes round and round...

Fan Challenge

For Gingersnap Creations - Random Red Head Challenge is all about fans, the fan i have done is with doilies, which have become one of my favorite embellishment… it has soooooo many uses, other than for its normal use… so as a start i took out a round doily and misted it with vintage pink and honey dew mist from the tattered angle mist collection, then embossed with gold and cut out pieces to fit like a fan… and voila!!! i'v got me a fan!

Another great challenge by Studio L3 and Simon Says Stamp, i haven't been able to participate for some time now, so i thought today is as good day as any…

For Studio L3, its our favorite Lord of Distress - t!m's 12 tags of christmas - 2007, day 8

And for Simon Says Stamp and Show - the theme is Anything Goes.

I have decided to combine both challenges.

the frame was based on t!m's day 8 tag, and from there i developed my version

stamps are from both t!m's collection and Graphic 45 - Curtain Call 3. (i just added this to my collection with some more new stamps and papers… i'll be showing off in the near future)

Mists 2

Here is the 2nd submission for the Mists challenge for the Gingersnap Creations, i kept a doily as a mask to create the background. do you remember t!m's frosted fragments from the 12 tags of christmas? well i used that technique for my fragments (don't know if you can see… i took this photo in the night and the lighting is not very good). Anyways, here it is…

Mists!!!
